My Sister Chiquita
Lisa Carroll | 2020
Mixed media on canvas
48 × 48 inches
Lisa’s Ladies series
A woman wearing an oversized purple hat balances a basket of bright yellow bananas in one raised hand. Palm trees, distant mountain peaks, and an orange crescent moon surround her, while washes of gray, green, and lavender create a dreamy, textured background.
Part of my ongoing Lisa’s Ladies series, My Sister Chiquita pairs a playful tropical setting with an expressive, imperfect figure. Her exaggerated proportions and colorful accessories bring humor and personality to this large-scale painting.
