Milton
Lisa Carroll
Mixed media on canvas
40 × 30 inches
Milton began while several people were sheltering at our home during Hurricane Milton. With hours to spend together, I brought out a canvas and invited everyone to doodle, make marks, or add whatever they wanted.
I later painted over those contributions to complete this piece, but that shared beginning remains part of its history. An expressive face, lightning bolts, a fallen tree, and handwritten fragments capture the tension, uncertainty, and dark humor of the experience.
What started as a spontaneous group activity became my personal response to the storm, rooted in the memory of being together while we waited.
