Lisa’s Ladies

I’ve been painting women for nearly 30 years.

I come back to them again and again to say the things I’m feeling, thinking, questioning or sometimes laughing about. They’ve changed as I’ve changed, but they’ve always given me a way to explore what it feels like to be a woman in the world.

They have saggy boobs, imperfect bodies, crazy thoughts, big feelings and complicated minds. They can be bold and shy, confident and insecure, joyful and angry, beautiful and strange. Sometimes all at once.

They aren’t meant to be perfect women.

They’re meant to be women.
